... she was having strange dreams. In them was a girl -- the exact description of the girl I was seeing -- walking from my room, down the stairs. She came into my mother's room, woke her up, and showed her the entire house. She would point at everything. She never spoke. She just looked at my mother in a way that my mother said wrenched her heart. The very last thing she would do was point into the mirror above our fireplace, with which I'd had some really intense experiences, usually while I was awake. When the girl pointed in the mirror, my mother saw her own face and woke up.
